Ash and friends get more than they bargain for when supplies run low and they accept a meal invitation from a family of strangers. It turns out the family are incredibly enthusiastic in their support of a son who recently left home with visions of greatness as a Pokémon Champion. As a tribute of sorts to this son, they engage in as many Pokémon battles as they can themselves.
